You must have and maintain health insurance for the length of your studies.
If you are coming to Australia for the first time, your OSHC policy must cover the full period of your visa. Therefore, please enter the policy start date as your visa start date and your policy end date as your visa end date.
If you are unsure of the period of cover that you need, your student visa would be granted up to the maximum duration outlined in the table below:

| 10 months or less | Jan-Dec | Your date of entry to Australia | Course end date + 1 month |
| More than 10 months | Jan-Oct | Your date of entry to Australia | Course end date + 2 months |
| More than 10 months | Nov-Dec | Your date of entry to Australia | March 15 the following year |
